29/11/18 - The impact of new wave dating services - are we now a form of social media?
The ODA will be hosting a workshop on 29th November focussing on the impact of new wave dating services. Are they now a form of social media? Does rich content on dating services feed the argument that these services are a form of social media and that they should be regulated accordingly?
With the UK Government and others in Europe looking at the case for more regulation of social media providers, the ODA think this is the right time for leading players to get together to explore the issues and implications of the Government or others seeing social media and dating services as one and the same. The discussion will cover these core points:
- Sector developments – what’s turning heads? Rich media content, celebrities and soc-media followers?
- Somebody’s watching you: who are the (new/different) stakeholders at the window?
- Implications if dating is social media
- What should we focus on as a collective: where would good practice guidance demonstrate responsibility and raise trust?
The event takes place on Thursday 29 November 2018 (Fleet Street, London) from 3pm to 5pm. To reserve a place please contact Ann Austin – firstname.lastname@example.org
