Wiggin LLP becomes ODA AssociateThe Online Dating Association (ODA) has a wide and growing membership of online dating companies and businesses offering dating apps. Alongside those offering dating services there is a broader community of businesses who are closely involved with the dating sector through the supply or technical, financial, advice, data-related and other services and goods.
The ODA is setting up Associate relationships with businesses and other entities with this shared interest and, in particular, with a shared commitment to building a strong healthy market that the public trust and value.
Since its start up in 2013 the ODA has worked closely with Wiggin LLP a leading media, technology and IP law practice to give ODA members practical advice on issues that are key to their businesses and to a good, safe and trusting user experience. This has included events on privacy law, contract and cancellation regulations and advertising rules. Wiggin supports members though a helpline and gives advice on a one-to-one basis. It gave the ODA valuable help as it explored ways of sharing information across the membership and with users in order to prevent wrongdoing. The ODA is delighted to be able now to reflect this with Wiggin as the latest ODA Associate.
Chief Executive George Kidd said “Wiggin have been a supporter of our work from the start. And the support has real substance with Wiggin helping us and our members deal with legal and regulatory change that go to the heart of the dating business. As a media and digital-focused firm they have a feel for how our members work. Having Wiggin join Scamalytics and the UK Dating Awards is another step in building our base of stakeholders and partners in making the UK market strong, innovative and trusted.”
Shaun Lowde, partner and co-founder of Wiggin said: "Our focussed expertise in media, technology and IP law means that we are ideally placed to help the ODA and its members as they grapple with regulatory issues, rights queries and data concerns. We are proud to be associated with the ODA and to be able to assist with its invaluable work."
