Past Events - Keeping your dating data fit for purpose

The ODA webinar on 24th February was led by the Data Protection Network (DPN), with the UK Data and Marketing Association, and Harte Hanks a Texas based global marketing agency. The session covered the Californian CCPA and European GDPR rules on issue affecting daters: limits on use of third party data, clarity over when consents are required, balancing the possible conflict between an individual’s “right to be forgotten” and a service’s general data retention policies, subject access requests to a service, and the implication for the different parties when a user blocks another user or a user is blocked by the service.

DPN have recently joined the ODA as an Associate member and Julia Porter from DPN has helpfully prepared this article - What privacy lessons can we learn from online dating covering the main points of discussion.
