ODA welcomes GlobalCharge as an Associate

The ODA is pleased to announce that GlobalCharge has become its latest Associate.

GlobalCharge delivers innovative billing technology to online publishers enabling them to bill for products and services in over 70 countries worldwide. Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) is available on all smartphones/feature phones which opens up opportunities to reach far more people than relying on those who have a credit card. Frictionless and secure it helps generate significant revenues in the dating sector and is the online payment of choice in many countries.

“We are delighted to welcome GlobalCharge as an ODA Associate” said George Kidd, ODA Chief Executive. “As dating apps and services evolve so too will the ways in which they are paid for. With nearly three-quarters of all activity now happening on smartphones and growth in in-service purchasing, the scope for forms of mobile-billing is obvious, considerable and global. GlobalCharge are already supporting dating services and we will look to them and others as we take forward ODA guidance and good practice around contract terms, trading practices and payment options.”

Simon Coates Co-Founder and CEO of GlobalCharge said ‘’Carrier billing is the most frictionless and widely available payment option currently available on mobile devices. This makes it the ideal choice for dating companies looking to boost conversions and improve customer acquisition. The ODA have done a tremendous job in elevating best practise within the dating industry and we look forward to working with them in our capacity as an associate member.’’

ODA Associate status is available to businesses that share the ODA’s objectives for high standards and a healthy market. Associates are not “members”, but their services and actions must never bring the reputation of the ODA or industry into disrepute but should reflect a shared commitment to standards and user trust. More information about becoming an ODA Associate can be found here.

The ODA was set up in 2014 to develop and maintain standards that give users assurance and ensure businesses trade responsibly. It seeks also to inform policy makers and to promote messages to users that minimise the risk of harm.
