What privacy lessons can we learn from online dating

Data Protection Network (DPN), an ODA Associate member have helpfully prepared this article – What privacy lessons can we learn from online dating? This covers the main points of discussion from a webinar we held with DPN.

The session covered the Californian CCPA and European GDPR rules on issues affecting daters: limits on the use of third-party data, clarity over when consents are required, balancing the possible conflict between an individual’s “right to be forgotten” and a service’s general data retention policies, subject access requests to a service, and the implication for the different parties when a user blocks another user or a user is blocked by the service.
